The ERAVI project is a community initiative led by European Welfare Association and RUDA, implemented with the support of The National Lottery Community Fund, to raise awareness of domestic abuse, hate crime, and violence affecting migrant and minority communities.
Through workshops, conversations, outreach, and educational activities, the project creates safe spaces where people can learn, speak openly, and better understand their rights, the support available, and the importance of reporting abuse and harmful behaviour.
At its heart, ERAVI is about giving people a voice, strengthening community cohesion, and helping individuals feel safer, more informed, and more confident in the UK. By working closely with community members, local organisations, and advocates, the project aims to break silence, challenge stigma, and build stronger, more supportive communities for everyone.
Brave Minds, Brave Stories
2025-2028
Români Uniți din Anglia (RUDA) is proudly implementing a new and inspiring project funded by BBC Children in Need — Pudsey: Next Steps. Through this initiative, our team will work directly with children from our community, creating safe and engaging spaces where they can grow, express themselves, and build resilience.
We believe that empowering children with tools for emotional wellbeing and self-expression is vital for their development, and thanks to the support of BBC Children in Need, we are excited to deliver these important opportunities.
The project will include mental health awareness sessions tailored to children’s needs, storytelling activities designed to spark creativity and build confidence, and a dedicated Children’s Book Club encouraging a love for reading and discussion.
Safe CEE- Safeguarding Toolkit
2026-2027
RUDA is proud to deliver SAFE CEE – Safeguarding Toolkit for Romanian-Speaking Families, a new project made possible through £19,800 of funding from The National Lottery Community Fund.
Running until September 2027, the project will focus on developing a dedicated safeguarding guide designed to support Romanian-speaking families with accessible, culturally appropriate information, helping them better understand and navigate safeguarding processes in the UK.
Through this project, RUDA aims to make vital safeguarding information more meaningful and easier to access for members of the Romanian community. SAFE CEE reflects our commitment to supporting families with practical resources that build awareness, confidence, and understanding around child safety and wellbeing in the UK
The “RUDA Book Club Kidz & Basarabia in Birmingham” (6 months 2026)
The project is a groundbreaking cultural initiative that serves as a living bridge between the Republic of Moldova and the Romanian-speaking diaspora community in England.
Supported by the Bureau of Relations with the Diaspora (BRD) of the Republic of Moldova, the project operates across three interconnected dimensions: cultural and educational, economic and community support, and historical recognition.
Through the acquisition and promotion of Moldovan literature, facilitation of direct author meetings with children, innovative AI-integrated Romanian language workshops, and the preservation of traditional Moldovan embroidery (iei) through paid collaboration with expert craftspeople, the initiative creates meaningful emotional connections between diaspora communities and their cultural heritage while simultaneously generating direct economic benefit for cultural creators in Moldova.
Beyond cultural transmission, the project embeds economic sustainability by purchasing books directly from Moldovan authors and publishers, compensating participating authors and traditional craft experts from the “Şezătoarea Basarabia” cooperative, and establishing the foundations for enduring partnerships between RUDA CIC and Moldovan cultural entities.
The project culminates in a major cultural-educational event marking the celebration of the Union of Bessarabia with Romania—that educates both diaspora and international audiences about Moldovan historical identity and cultural significance.
In this way, the project transforms cultural advocacy into concrete economic action and institutional partnership, ensuring that the diaspora becomes an active promoter and client of Moldova’s cultural economy while preserving and celebrating a shared historical narrative.
